Re: WIP Concept Competition #1 - Xuan Duy Bui Adding some steam punk into it now ... and yeah its a helmet. Anyway when i think I of steam punk I think of Victorian. So he's got a a Victorian uniform now and some light bulbs coming off his head!

Re: WIP Concept Competition #1 - Xuan Duy Bui love it, though it is very cyber. awesome idea of the tassels, looks very upper class 17th century. but steam is about crude design, rust and iron...well thats how i see it. big, rusty, messy, complex iron.

I never think of its as messy it can be big and complex and some time rusty but never messy ... but thats just me I love this genre. Anyway am too busy to finish off this comp. I might have to call it quits.

Re: WIP Concept Competition #1 - Xuan Duy Bui Things in fiction that are steampunk: Bioshock (mostly, not all the magic crap though), Lyra's world in His Dark Materials (The northern lights and series by philip pullman), the awesome refridgerator of win in back to the future 3. These are all examples of steampunk, and are quite different in focus.
Also, anything set in the wild west with a mad scientist in it probably has steampunk in it. You get the idea.
